Kaya FC–Iloilo look to build on their promising start to the 2019 Philippines Football League when they visit Stallion Laguna on Wednesday afternoon at the Biñan Football Stadium. The match will kickoff at 3:30pm, and will be streamed live over PFLTV.ph.
Wednesday’s clash will be against the two sides that stood out on opening day. Kaya started the season with a dominant 4-0 victory over Green Archers United, while Stallion Laguna secured an impressive 2-2 draw against the two-time defending champions, Ceres Negros.
“Stallion had a great start. I think they deserved three points in that game. Their fast paced game worked well because of the space given to them. They are a reinforced team, specifically in the goalkeeping area [with Patrick Deyto],” said Iloilo head coach Noel Marcaida. “An explosive start and 100% focus and determination will be the keys for tomorrow’s game. It’s a big day and an important match for both clubs.”
Biñan Football Stadium has proven a tricky ground for Kaya in recent times, but Jordan Mintah, fresh from a hat-trick performance against the Archers, isn’t worried about Iloilo’s lack of wins in Laguna.
“I’m not worried about it at all. We are just praying for the best tomorrow because, I believe with my teammates everything will change,” he said. “Playing against Stallion is always a physical game with a lot of running and pressing. So I always expect that from them.”
