Former state lawmaker Clayton Luckie faces federal charges again.
Dayton, Ohio, the rust belt community of the Midwest has a big scandal involving the U.S. Justice Department investigating current and former leaders.
Former state lawmaker Clayton Luckie is once again facing federal charges for corruption. The former Democratic state lawmaker already served four years in the iron college is now facing another slew of federal charges.
This includes a former ward, a city manager assistant and business owner are also ensnared in this corruption.
Former city commissioner Joey Williams is also ensnared in this corruption. Williams who is the current regional president of KeyBank is also indicted in corruption. Williams is married to Monroe, Louisiana news reporter Natasha Williams.
Williams is a Dayton native who served on the Dayton School Board and Dayton City Commission. An executive with KeyBank, Williams abruptly resigned his seat on the city commission in February 2018, shortly after winning election in November 2017.
Two other people include: Roshawn Winburn, a Dayton technical assistant administrator for the Dayton Human Relations Council and Brian Higgins, a local restaurant and bar owner are charged as well.
Winburn is the business and technical assistant administrator for the Dayton Human Relations Council. The city paid him $73,983 last year in a similar position. Winburn is an Air Force veteran who has served on the Huber Heights City Commission. Winburn was appointed to the city commission in 2008 but failed to win election the following fall.
Former Dayton councilman and bank executive Joey Williams is ensnared in this.
U.S. Attorney Benjamin Glassman and Ohio State Auditor Dave Yost appeared at the federal court to address the charges these men face.
These charges could put these individuals in the federal time out for up to 40 years. They are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The feds say that Luckie, a former state representative from Dayton and Huber Heights had formed a company after he served time in the iron college. He was took federal funds to start up a business.
Luckie operated "Corporation A" as a disadvantaged business enterprise without equipment or employees. This was a fraudulent scheme created to help build money for Luckie and his friends.
Luckie had federal charges for money laundering, falsification and theft. He was placed in federal time out for three years. He was released a few years ago and we told to stay out of trouble.
Luckie is a long-time Dayton Democrat who served 10 years on the school board and seven years in the Ohio House. In 2012, investigators found that Luckie diverted roughly $130,000 from his campaign account for personal use while serving in the Ohio House.
Once again, our city suffers under the hands of inept city leaders. It's not a Democrat or Republican thing anymore. It's a wrong and right issue. Donald J. Trump has set the precedent of corruption.
He manages to get away with deliberately allying with a foreign adversary to help him win an election.
