La nave della Ong tedesca Sea Eye ha soccorso 64 migranti al largo della Libia. Si trovavano a bordo di un gommone e ora sono “tutti al sicuro sulla nostra nave”, ha fatto sapere su Twitter l’organizzazione umanitaria. L’allerta è scattata in mattinata, intorno alle 10, dopo la segnalazione di Alarm Phone, il servizio telefonico che fornisce un numero da chiamare ai migranti in caso di difficoltà. Dopo la telefonata al largo del gommone, l’imbarcazione è stata individuata al largo di Zuwarah. A bordo ci sarebbero anche 10 donne e sei bambini. Mediterranea Saving Humans, il progetto italiano che opera nel Mar Mediterraneo con la nave ‘Mare Jonio’, ha chiesto a Italia e Malta di assegnare all’imbarcazione tedesca un “porto sicuro di sbarco”. Ma dal ministro dell’Interno, Matteo Salvini, arriva subito la replica: “Nave battente bandiera tedesca, Ong tedesca, armatore tedesco e capitano di Amburgo. È intervenuta in acque libiche e chiede un porto sicuro. Bene, vada ad Amburgo”.
L’operazione di soccorso si è conclusa nel pomeriggio. La Ong ha pubblicato su Facebook un breve video in cui vengono messe insieme alcune immagini del salvataggio, con i migranti prima a bordo del gommone e poi della Alan Kurdi. “Alan Kurdi ha svolto con successo l'operazione di soccorso, salvando 64 persone – scrive su Twitter Alarm Phone –. Questo caso dimostra l'importanza dell'intervento della flotta civile”. Il servizio telefonico ha ricevuto anche una seconda telefonata, poco dopo la prima, nella quale dall’imbarcazione veniva denunciato il bisogno di cure mediche per alcune delle persone a bordo. “Le autorità che abbiamo chiamato sono irraggiungibili”, fa sapere ancora. Le indicazioni sulla posizione del gommone erano state inviate via mail sia alla Guardia costiera libica che alla Alan Kurdi, che si trovava nelle vicinanze alla ricerca del barcone con circa 50 persone di cui non si hanno più notizie e che sarebbe scomparso da due giorni. Alla fine a intervenire è stata proprio l’imbarcazione della Sea Eye.
