Solo son tres episodios, pero podría haberme visto una serie entera. Ben Whishaw se llevó un Globo de Oro por su actuación (que a mí me recordó bastante a la de El perfume), pero lo que hace Hugh Grant en esta adaptación de Russell T. Davies (Dr. Who) es canela fina. Interpreta a Jeremy Thorpe, un político que comienza una relación homosexual con un joven. Aunque no es un delito, el político ve peligrar su carrera cuando puede ser nombrado Primer Ministro. Basada en hechos reales, Thorpe se convirtió en el primer político británico acusado de intento de asesinato.
Como buen thriller, si no conoces la historia, te mantiene intrigado hasta el final. Combina el drama por la situación, pero la flema inglesa es la flema inglesa, y no hay nada más incómodamente divertido que escuchar al político hablar de sexo, de anos y de lo que surja con su joven amante, que, ingenuo, sigue a pies juntillas con ojos degollados sus indicaciones. La ambientación, las ambiguedades en los diálogos, el intento de asesinato chapucero, el juicio final (todo de traca) y cierto tono paródico siempre hacen de Un escándalo muy inglés una delicia de ver.
