The Boycott, Divest and Sanction Movement is an active protest against the inhumane acts committed by the Israeli government. The BDS Movement is being labeled "anti-Semitic" by the far-white, pro-Israeli groups like AIPAC and Congress. State governments have passed laws trying to ban Americans from participating in protesting the Israeli government.
A federal judge temporarily blocked a Texas law that required people contracting with the state to sign a pledge not to boycott Israel. That forces American workers to pick loyalty to a foreign country in order to receive funding and paycheck.
According to court documents, Bahia Amawi, a U.S. citizen of Palestinian origin, said she participates in the boycott movement because she's an advocate for "Palestinian human rights and justice."
She sued, arguing the law violates her First and Fourteenth Amendment rights.
The law which was passed in Texas legislature in 2017 says.
"A government entity may not enter into a contract with a company for goods or services unless the contract contains a written verification from the company that it:
(1) does not boycott Israel; and
(2) will not boycott Israel during the term of the contact.
Texas Republican governor Greg Abbott called anti-Israel policies "anti-Texas policies."
Ken Paxton, the corrupt attorney general of Texas said the law doesn't violate anyone's constitutional rights. He said that it only is intended for companies. He wants the courts to dismiss this.
The judge refused the order. U.S. District Court Judge Robert Pittman appointed by Barack Obama in 2014, said that boycotts are protected speech and the law violates the First Amendment by threatening to suppress "unpopular ideas" and the laws were intended to "manipulate the public debate through coercion rather than persuasion."
Twenty-five other states have similar anti-boycotts or executive orders. They will be challenged in federal court soon.
Pittman pretty much put the brakes on that law. So that means, Texas has to honor public debate.
I am getting fed up with American lawmakers catering to Israel. The Israeli government is being led by that corrupt gasbag Benjamin Netanyahu. Since he took control, Israel has cause major conflict in the Middle East.
Donald J. Trump has inflamed the Middle East with his decisions to honor Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. He also decided to honor the Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights. Both decisions were condemned by world leaders.
Netanyahu who is under federal probe in Israel and the United States has decided to honor Trump by naming a town after him in the Golan Heights. So that means, Israeli troops will evict Lebanese and Syrians living in that region. They will destroy their homes and business. They will plug more settlements in the dispute territory.
The United States has advocated bigotry, corruption and apartheid in the world. Trump, Vladimir Putin, Benjamin Netanyahu, Rodirgo Duterte, Jair Bolsonaro and Theresa May have created a cesspool of far-right nationalism and hate.
Democrats got a long way to go to get things right. The attacks on Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) are unacceptable. They have a right to protest Israel without being called bigots.
They're not bigots. They're women of color and they're not in the business of following the status quo. I am sick and tired of the status quo.
Since when is it against the law to criticize the brutal Israeli regime?
