Com'è noto, recentemente la Nuova Zelanda è stata scossa dal tremendo attacco terroristico anti-islamico, avvenuto a Christchurch. Gli autori dell'attacco sono stati un commando di quattro persone ( tre uomini e una donna) e il protagonista della sparatoria un ragazzo 28enne, Brenton Harrison Tarrant.
Come riportato da diverse testate internazionali, Tarrant proveniva da una famiglia di ceto basso, non aveva fatto l'università e si manteneva facendo lavori saltuari e investendo in criptovalute.
Più specificatamente, riporta il New York Times, Tarrant lavorava nel mondo del fitness ed era un appassionato e praticante di body building.
Inoltre, era un personal trainer e il padre ( morto nel 2010) era un netturbino appassionato di sport che partecipava alle gare dell'Iron Man ( una variante del triathlon).
Oltre a ciò, Tarrant era un investitore nel mercato delle criptovalute e, tramite i suoi guadagni, era riuscito ad organizzare dei viaggi in diverse parti del mondo.
Per essere più specifici e stando a quanto riporta la CNN, il 28enne era andato in Francia, in Turchia, in Pakistan, in Bulgaria, in Ucraina e in diversi altri paesi dell'Europa e dell'Asia.
A quanto pare, durante tali viaggi Brenton si sarebbe radicalizzato entrando in contatto con il network online( e forse non solo online) dell'estremismo di destra e del suprematismo bianco più radicale.
Secondo le testimonianze dei suoi conoscenti, tra cui un suo ex personal trainer, Tarrant sarebbe stato un ragazzo normale e tale radicalizzazione sarebbe avvenuta nei suoi viaggi.
