«Spregevole e immorale»: ha scatenato polemiche in Germania un video dei Rammstein, in cui abbondano riferimenti ai campi di concentramento nazisti e al Terzo Reich. In un trailer pubblicato sul sito del gruppo tedesco si vedono i membri della rock band, con la corda al collo a una forca, vestiti con divise simili a quelli dei deportati nei lager. Sulla camicia di uno dei musicisti si vede una stelle gialla, che ricorda quelle che erano obbligati a portare gli ebrei. Alla fine del video di 35 secondi appare la scritta «Deutschland» (Germania) in caratteri gotici.
Durissima la reazione del presidente del Consiglio centrale degli ebrei tedeschi, Josef Schuster: «Chi utilizza l’Olocausto per motivi di marketing agisce in modo spregevole e immorale. Al contrario sono molti artisti che nelle loro opere si confrontano in modo dignitoso con la Shoah». Dice ancora Schuster: se i Rammstein - che si definiscono una band di «industrial metal» - «dovessero trarre profitti dall’Olocausto grazie al loro video, di fatto insulterebbero le milioni di persone che durante la Shoah hanno sofferto in modo indicibile e sono state assassinate nel modo più crudele».
Mentre la band non ha voluto rilasciare dichiarazioni in proposito, sulla vicenda è intervenuto anche l’incaricato per l’antisemitismo del governo tedesco, Felix Klein, secondo il quale «in linea di principio non c’è nulla da ridire su un confronto di natura artistica, ma se il video è stato realizzato solo per provocare e per motivi commerciali, per scandalizzare e cercare di attrarre così l’attenzione, allora viene superata una linea rossa». A chi chiede se prima non si debba ascoltare l’album della band, Klein risponde: «Se ci fossero canzoni contro l’odio verso gli ebrei sarei favorevolmente stupito».
Sulla vicenda è intervenuto anche il direttore della Fondazione dei memoriali della Baviera, Karl Freller, che ha invitato i Rammstein a visitare il campo di concentramento di Dachau: «Non voglio dare un giudizio definitivo. Ma la sofferenza e la dimensione disumana dell’Olocausto non permettono il suo utilizzo per motivi pubblicitari allo scopo di far conoscere prodotti di qualsivoglia tipo. In questo caso, a quanto pare, un disco».
