Attorney General Bill Barr has delivered the “principal conclusions” of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation to Congress on Sunday, offering lawmakers and the public the first glimpse of findings of the nearly two-year long investigation.
Mueller submitted his full report to Barr on Friday, and the attorney general informed lawmakers he would try to return the main conclusions of the probe into whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia in the 2016 election. Mueller has indicted 37 people or entities in the investigation, but officials with the Department of Justice said Friday no additional indictments are forthcoming from the special counsel’s office.
What Barr turned over on Sunday is not yet the full report — which lawmakers, including high-profile Democrats, have demanded be made public, setting up a potential showdown between Congress and the Department of Justice in the coming weeks.
