Meng Wangzhou

Huawei CFO Meng Wangzhou suing Canada, border agency and RCMP over airport arrest

She says authorities detained, searched and interrogated her before telling her she was under arrest

This breaking newz story is yet another nail in Trudeau's coffin.  He's now going to be fighting several legal battles, not just one.  First there is the threatened police investigation resulting from the SNC Lavalin scandal; then there's the Huawei extradition scandal which has just gotten a whole lot worse due to the lawsuit filed today by Huawei executive Meng Wangzhou..  Please read the following report from the National Post and I will have more comments to follow:

VANCOUVER — The defence team for Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou has filed a notice of civil claim alleging “serious violations” of her constitutional rights. The suit filed with the B.C. Supreme Court on Friday is against members of the Canadian Border Services Agency, the RCMP and the federal government.

It seeks damages for false imprisonment based on alleged multiple failures of government officials to comply with the rule of law upon her detention, search and interrogation at the Vancouver airport on Dec. 1, 2018. The allegations have not been proven in court and the CBSA, RCMP and the attorney general’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

On Friday, the Canadian Department of Justice gave the go-ahead for an extradition case against Meng, marking the formal start of the high-profile process that has put Canada in an uncomfortable position between the United States and China.

The U.S. Department of Justice has laid out 13 criminal counts of conspiracy, fraud and obstruction against Huawei and Meng, who is the daughter of company founder Ren Zhengfei."

Greencrow says:  Looking at Meng Wangzhou's Wikipedia entry it is unclear whether she is still a permanent resident of Canada.  Apparently she has a Canadian passport.  Wikipedia is notoriously wrong on salient facts such as biographical details.  The lawsuit alleges that her "constitutional rights" were "seriously violated".  Is her husband a Canadian citizen?  Does she have rights of citizenship related to her marriage?  I'm going to stick my neck out here and suggest that Meng is a Canadian citizen.  She certainly has had ample time to qualify.  She and her husband own two homes in Vancouver.  If she is a Canadian citizen, and possibly even if she is not [which I doubt] the Bill of Rights would apply to her.  More importantly legislation related to criminal investigations--impacting the RCMP and the Canadian Border Services would apply.

The legal facts are pathetically easy to understand. Meng's US order for arrest dated back to August. When she was apprehended on December 1st, 2018 at the Vancouver airport she was apparently "detained, searched and interrogated [Canadian authorities] before telling her she was under arrest.  If they did not tell her she was under arrest prior to detaining, searching and interrogating her...that is a damnably pathetic rookie mistake.  Once she learns she's under arrest, she then has the constitutional right to ask for a lawyer and to remain silent.  Ergo, if there is an arrest warrant out for her that is the FIRST thing she must be told.

IMO, this is an "open and shut case"....and, once again, just like Omar Khadr, Mahar Arar, the Nuttall/Korody couple and numerous other victims...Meng Wangzhou is a victim of the negligent, corrupt, pandering, politicized Canadian government and its pathetically spineless security services. Meng is likely going to win mega millions in compensation...not that she needs, or even likely wants the money.  Money she has plenty of.

Back to the root cause of all this disastrous carry on.  Well, it's the current root cause...because it doesn't really matter what puppet is at the helm...Canada is a pathetically occupied vassal state...but the current puppet du jour was the one who said many times on TV, when asked about the Huawei matter, that "Canada follows the Rule Of Law"......Bullbiscuits!!!

Way back on February 8, 2019 I was the first one [I believe] in Canada who predicted that Trudeau would be forced to resign as a result of the SNC Lavalin scandal. I cynically said that this scandal was just the vehicle chosen by the PTB to rid the political scene of an already past "best before" date politician. Here is exactly what I said:

"….When I read The Globe and Mail story yesterday, I had that old conspiracy theory blogger feeling again. The hairs stood up on the back of my neck. I recognized the political implications, having seen them time after time over decades. This story is a "dagger in the back" of Trudeau. The story is meant to result in Trudeau's resignation, perhaps the collapse of the Liberal government. Perhaps, and this is the most likely long term goal, the installment of a new and more electable candidate in the role of "acting Prime Minister".

Because, let's be frank. The Fact Situation of this big scandal is actually run-of-the mill political corruption which, in normal times, wouldn't be worth the ram spilled on it in The Globe and Mail. "Fixing" sticky legal wickets is the bread and butter of the "Justice" [sic] Ministry..."

It was only 19 days later, on February 27, 2019, that Andrew Scheer, the Leader of the Official Opposition demanded Trudeau's resignation.  I ask my dear readers...do you really think that Andrew Scheer and the Official Opposition would take the draconian step of calling for Trudeau's resignation if they didn't have a few aces up their sleeves?  Do you think that Jody Wilson-Raybould told us everything she knew [or experienced] regarding the attempted obstruction of justice?  I think not.

Even I was shocked at Sheer's demand that Trudeau resign.  What it told me was that there must be quite a few more shoes to drop.  The poll taken by the Globe and Mail a day or so ago, wherein only 30 out of 179 Liberals responded...."mostly supportive to Trudeau" is also a bleak indication that his support within his own caucus is a mile wide and wafer thin.  Perhaps Wilson-Raybould will be Trudeau's replacement?????!!

This latest Huawei lawsuit...where Meng's lawyers will no doubt use the fact situation of the SNC Lavalin scandal as evidence of Trudeau's corruption of the security and justice system for political ends...as I say, is the final nail in the coffin.  I'll again stick my neck out and say Trudeau will likely be gone within weeks...or even dayZ.
