Trudeau speaks on Lavalin and Huawei
Yesterday a story broke in the Canadian newspaper, the Toronto-based The Globe and Mail. Over the decades I've come to recognize this newz outlet as the equivalent of the BBC in Canada...the "Voice of Satan". When this newspaper starts on a political vendetta it's always because the Deep State, acting through its Canadian subsidiary, wants to exert its power, one way or the other.
In this particular case, The Globe and Mail, through an "anonymous" source was revealing that the Prime Minister's Office had "pressured" the Attorney General/Minister of Justice Jody Wilson-Raybould [who is an indigenous woman, daughter of a prominent BC hereditary chief, Bill Wilson] to help a powerful Quebec corporation SNC Lavalin, avoid prosecution for corruption. Here are some of the details from the CBC and I will have more comments to follow:
************************
...Prime Minister Justin Trudeau found himself in the opposition's crosshairs Thursday following a report that he pressed former Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould to intervene in the prosecution of construction giant SNC-Lavalin on charges of fraud and corruption.
Trudeau denied today that he or his staff "directed" Wilson-Raybould to intervene. At one point, in reply to a journalist's question, he said in French that he never "asked" her to make any decisions in the case.
"The allegations in the Globe story this morning are false," Trudeau told reporters during a Toronto-area news conference Thursday morning. "Neither the current nor the previous attorney general was ever directed by me, or by anyone in my office, to take a decision in this matter."
…
"..."We have heard the prime minister's very carefully scripted legalistic answer," said Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer. "But the question is, did anyone in the Prime Minister's Office at any time communicate with anyone in the former attorney general's office on the matter of the criminal prosecution of SNC-Lavalin — yes or no?"
…
…The Globe and Mail story said Wilson-Raybould was shuffled from her portfolio after she refused to ask federal prosecutors to make a plea bargain deal with Montreal-based SNC-Lavalin. The newspaper, citing anonymous sources, said Trudeau's office tried to press Wilson-Raybould to intervene in the prosecution of SNC Lavalin."
Greencrow says: When I read The Globe and Mail story yesterday, I had that old conspiracy theory blogger feeling again. The hairs stood up on the back of my neck. I recognized the political implications, having seen them time after time over decades. This story is a "dagger in the back" of Trudeau. The story is mean to result in Trudeau's resignation, perhaps the collapse of the Liberal government. Perhaps, and this is the most long term goal, the installment of a new and more electable candidate in the role of "acting Prime Minister".
Because, let's be frank. The Fact Situation of this big scandal is actually run-of-the mill political corruption which, in normal times, wouldn't be worth the ram spilled on it in The Globe and Mail. "Fixing" sticky legal wickets is the bread and butter of the "Justice" [sic] department. Here are more details from CTV about what exactly Wilson-Rabould was asked to fix:
"...SNC-Lavalin is before a court in Montreal, charged with fraud and corruption in connection with payments of nearly $48 million to public officials in Libya under Moammar Gadhafi's government and allegations it defrauded Libyan organizations of an estimated $130 million. So you can see from the above the extent of the endemic corruption both in the "you scratch my back I'll scratch yours" atmosphere in Ottawa between big corporations, their lobbyists and the federal government. It goes on all the time ad nauseum. So why the big hullaballoo in The Globe and Mail yesterday about a former Justice Minister being turfed for not going along? Why the sudden injection of morality?
The company is contesting the case and has pleaded not guilty. The case is at the preliminary hearing stage. If convicted, the company could be blocked from competing for federal government contracts for a decade.
In 2013, SNC-Lavalin was debarred from competing on any project financed by the World Bank for 10 years following an investigation into allegations of bribery schemes involving the company and officials in Bangladesh.
On Friday, former SNC-Lavalin CEO Pierre Duhaime pleaded guilty to helping a public servant commit breach of trust in a deal that resulted in 20 months of house arrest, 240 hours of community service and a $200,000 donation to a fund for victims of crime..."
Because Justin Trudeau and his government, largely due to the criminal capers of his neo-Nazi supporting Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, are seriously on the electoral ropes. One aspect of politics that Canadians are NEVER privy to are the daily poll numbers. But the politicians and the Deep State see them. What the above "scandal" tells me is that the poll numbers must be truly rotten. They must be absolutely irredeemable. Trudeau/Freeland must be toast.
Politics is always theatre. Sometimes it's comedy, sometimes tragedy but it is always scripted. My assessment is that the perps want Trudeau out because he's unelectable [without massive fraud] They want him to resign and disappear. Then they can "appoint" a squeaky clean caretaker PM to the office to see them through the Fall election.
The Sharks are circling the bloody political liability...so watch out!
