La sera degli incidenti di piazza San Carlo, a Torino, Marisa Amato stava passeggiando con il marito.
Né lei né lui, il 3 giugno 2017, si trovavano in quel luogo per assistere alla partita di finale di Champions League tra Juventus e Real Madrid. Eppure, quella sera, la folla aveva travolto anche lei. La conseguenza fu un trauma vertebrale midollare che l'aveva resa tetraplegica. Questa mattina, attorno alle 9,15, se n'è andata anche lei, a distanza di un anno e mezzo da quei fatti. Si tratta della seconda vittima, perché la prima morì per schiacciamento dopo 12 giorni di agonia.
La vicenda e le complicanze
Marisa Amato, dopo un lungo ricovero in ospedale era tornata a casa dove aveva proseguito le cure. Negli ultimi giorni, la donna aveva presentato i sintomi di un'infezione che le ha causato, come conseguenza, il peggioramento delle condizioni respiratorie. Mercoledì pomeriggio era stata portata al pronto soccorso del Cto, dove i medici le avevano diagnosticato un versamento pleurico, che, però, è stato drenato e la sua difficoltà respiratoria è stata sorretta con ventilazione non invasiva.
La richiesta di Amato
Secondo quanto riportato da una nota dell'ospedale, la paziente, ricoverata presso la Terapia intensiva della struttura piemontese, avrebbe "espresso, con lucidità e fermezza, la volontà che la terapia, soprattutto il supporto respiratorio, non prevedesse mezzi invasivi, come l'intubazione tracheale o la tracheotomia, qualora la ventilazione non invasiva non risultasse sufficiente, pur avendo ben chiaro che questa decisione avrebbe potuto portarla a un peggioramento fatale".
Il peggioramento
La terapia non invasiva è proseguita con discreta efficacia, fino alle otto di questa mattina, quando si sarebbe presentato "un brusco peggioramento cardiovascolare" che "ha causato la perdita della coscienza" della donna, fino al momento del decesso.
La fondazione
Nei mesi successivi all'incidentei, i figli di Marisa Amato hanno fondato una onlus, "I sogni di nonna Marisa", per raccogliere fondi da destinare a chi soffre di disabilità motoria e ha difficoltà nell'acquisto di strumenti sanitari. Il 23 ottobre 2018, la donna aveva voluto presenziare alla prima udienza preliminare per i fatti accaduti in piazza San Carlo.
