"Il
viaggio dei migranti non è sempre un'esperienza felice", dice Papa Francesco nella prefazione di "Luci sulla strada della speranza", pubblicato oggi dalla Sezione migranti e rifugiati del Dicastero dello Sviluppo umano integrale della Santa Sede.
"Basti pensare ai terribili viaggi delle vittime della tratta. Anche in questo caso, però, non mancano le possibilità di riscatto". Il pontefice osserva che "ci sono poi gli esodi drammatici dei rifugiati, un'esperienza che Gesù Cristo stesso provò, assieme a i suoi genitori, all'inizio della propria vita terrena, quando dovettero fuggire in Egitto per salvarsi dalla furia omicida di Erode".
"Anche quando l'itineranza è stata indotta con intenzioni criminali, come nel caso della tratta- prosegue il Papa -, non bisogna lasciarsi rubare la speranza di liberazione e di riscatto. Migranti, rifugiati, richiedenti asilo, sfollati e vittime della tratta costituiscono segmenti sovrapposti di minoranze in pericolo".
Il Papa cita anche l'esempio del "piccolo Giuseppe, figlio di Giacobbe, venduto come schiavo dai fratelli gelosi, il quale in Egitto divenne un fiduciario del faraone. Ci sono poi gli esodi drammatici dei rifugiati, un’esperienza che Gesù Cristo stesso provò, assieme ai suoi genitori. Come la storia umana, la storia della salvezza è stata segnata da itineranze di diverso genere - migrazioni, esili, fughe, esodi - tutte comunque motivate dalla speranza di un futuro migliore altrove.
E anche quando l’itineranza è stata indotta con intenzioni criminali, come nel caso della tratta, non bisogna lasciarsi rubare la speranza di liberazione e di riscatto".

Baggio e padre Michael Czerny, sottosegretari della Sezione migranti e rifugiati, nella prefazione del documento scrivono che "Papa Francesco non ha mai nascosto la sua grande preoccupazione verso il fenomeno della tratta di persone, che miete milioni di vittime - uomini, donne e bambini - le quali possono essere annoverate tra le persone più deumanizzate e scartate ovunque nel mondo di oggi". "Gli Orientamenti - proseguono - si propongono di fornire una chiave di lettura della tratta e una comprensione che diano ragione e sostegno a una lotta necessaria e duratura".
