We continue to fight for the rights of voters.
Our “Opposition Bloc“ team submitted a claim to the Sixth appeal administrative court of Kiev concerning the illegality of the Resolution of the Central Election Commission on closing polling precincts in the Russian Federation.
In defiance of the Constitution of Ukraine and electoral laws, on December 31st the Central Electoral Commission liquidated five polling precincts in the Russian Federation, having disfranchised at least three million Ukrainian citizens.
I will remind that these sites are located in the diplomatic missions of Ukraine, i.e., on Ukrainian territory, not Russian. Ukrainian diplomats were engaged in the organisation of elections there, not the Russian authorities.
Despite the fact that the CEC has no legal grounds to make this decision, the court dismissed our claim, reasoning this by referring to an insufficiency of proof of stay outside of Ukraine on voting day.
I consider this decision to be politically motivated: the authorities have thus not allowed millions of Ukrainians who left the country for the purpose of earning money and escaping from war to take part in elections because they do not intend to vote for Petro Poroshenko.
Our team will appeal against this decision in the Cassation administrative court within the Supreme Court.
The Ukrainian people have the right to vote in direct open elections for who they will entrust the highest state position, and the current president is obliged to respect this choice, and not discredit the democratic structure of the Ukrainian state by his electoral machinations.
