Poroshenko Signed the Law That Gives Social Privileges to OUN-UPA Nazi Collaborators
The president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed a law that expands the list of participants of military operations from a number of “armies that battled for the independence of Ukraine in the 20th century”. As the website of the Verkhovna Rada reports, on December 22nd the law was returned with the signature of the president.
The law makes changes to Article 6 of the Law “On the status of veterans of war and guarantees of their social protection”. Soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army who “were involved in combat operations against fascist aggressors in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine in 1941-1944 and didn’t commit crimes against peace and humanity” were rehabilitated.
After the entry into force of the adopted changes, soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army of Ataman Taras Borovets (Bulba) “Polissian Sich”, the Ukrainian People’s Revolutionary Army (UPRA), and the armed units of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists will be recognised as participants of military operations.
This list also includes soldiers recognised as fighters for the independence of Ukraine in the 20th century according to the Law “On the legal status and celebration of the memory of fighters for the independence of Ukraine in the 20th century.

In the new edition there is one essential bullet point – the reservation that these privileges and the status are not provided to those who committed crimes against peace and mankind disappeared.
Thus, Ukrainian nationalists who served Nazis and participated in the Holocaust and in the Volyn massacre have actually now been rehabilitated.
