L’accusa sarebbe riguardante delle violazioni alle sanzioni degli Stati Uniti contro l’Iran. L’ambasciata cinese ha richiesto la liberazione accusando l’America di violazione dei diritti umani. Solo due settimane fa il Presidente Trump aveva invitato gli alleati a non usare la compagnia di telecomunicazioni cinese, perché sospettata di spionaggio. Gli Stati Uniti hanno emesso un mandato di arresto nei confronti di Wanzhou che è stata fermata sabato 1 dicembre all’aeroporto di Vancouver. L’udienza è fissata per domani venerdì 7 dicembre a Vancouver, e gli Stati Uniti ne hanno richiesto l’estradizione.
Guerra aperta quindi tra Usa e Cina. L’arresto è arrivato proprio in concomitanza all’allontanamento di Huawei da British Telecom per possibile rischio spionaggio. Il colosso cinese ha dichiarato in un comunicato “Non siamo a conoscenza di alcun illecito commesso dalla direttrice finanziaria”. Huawei è presente in decine di Paesi in tutto il mondo, sia con la sua rete tecnologica che con i suoi smartphone. Da anni Washington accusa il colosso di agire per minare la sicurezza degli Stati Uniti, favorendo in questo modo il governo di Pechino. Huawei ha sempre negato ogni accusa sottolineando che l’azienda è privata e non ha nessun collegamento con il governo.
