LOUISVILLE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WILL HAVE DURR, WALZ AT ACC TIP OFF
There is an old song, originally written by the soul group Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes called "IF YOU DON'T KNOW ME BY NOW" that could easily describe either Asia Durr or Jeff Walz of the Louisville women's basketball team. The 1972 standard was also redone by Simply Red in 1988, a re-make that is equally good.
In short, we're guessing you've heard of the two. Two of the finest representatives of Louisville athletics of all time. A far cry from the drama-ridden Pitino and blundering Bobby Petrino.
WHO ARE THOSE GUYS?
Asia Durr knows a lot about having soul. Heart, perseverance, determination and "being known by now" are also items she can check off her list as done. She and Jeff Walz will represent the Cards at the ACC WBB Tip Off Media Days in Charlotte, NC today at the Sheraton.
The two will join Christy Thomaskutty (who?) at 11:30 for a 20-minute Q&A session on the ACC Network and theacc.com Hopefully, part of the time will be spend on finding out who Christy Thomaskutty is and...when did she become part of the ACC Network?
I like my Thomaskutty on the rocks...water back.
If you don't know Jeff Walz by now...welcome out of your coma and you'll be eating solid food soon. The Cards skipper was the ACC Coach of the Year last year. Asia was the ACC Player of the Year last year. Perhaps they'll run into Muffet McGraw in a hallway or banquet area in Charlotte and proper introductions can occur today.
Walz and Durr will also be involved in other various interviews and media opportunities throughout the day in Charlotte...with folks such as Deb Antonelli, Rebecca Lobo, the Pope and some of the other seven dwarfs. No, Paulie is not in Charlotte...the dog ate my ticket. I'll be watching the proceedings, though, via Internet. How about you?
Yes, Virginia, basketball season draws near. The WBB Tip Off Luncheon for the Cards is October 26th. at the Louisville Marriott Downtown...in case you haven't got your tickets already. That's a Friday and it's always a fun event. A chance for Cardinal Couple to get an interview or two. Doors open at 10:30. Tickets are $32.
And, eventually, we'll receive notice of the UofL WBB Media Day at the little YUM. Another great chance to hear from Coach and the players. Paulie expects to hook up with his assistant interviewer extraordinaire Arica Carter and get Cardinal fans the answers to those questions we're sure you have.
The Cards go forth to begin the 2018-19 campaign on November 6th (a Tuesday) in scenic Bowling Green against the Toppers of WKU.
Today, though, it's "let's meet the 2018-19 ACC women's basketball players and coaches" confab in a town best known for housing the 2-2 Carolina Panthers, for UNCC and those magical days of Bobby Lutz.

VOLLEYBALL JOINS TOP 25
Finally.
It took a road trip and 4-0 start to ACC play but Dani Busboom Kelly's UofL Volleyball squad is finally in the AVCA Coaches Poll Top 25.
Barely.
The #25 Cards took care of business over the past few days with wins at Georgia Tech and Clemson to keep the conference slate perfect. Louisville is in a three-way tie atop the conference with undefeated (15-0, 4-0) and #8th ranked Pittsburgh and Syracuse (8-4, 4-0).
If things continue in the same fashion, two dates that Cardinal Volleyball fans will want to circle on their All-Sports calendar are Sunday, Oct. 21st...when the Cards travel to Pitt tom face the Panthers in wide-net action and Sunday, Oct 28th...when Syracuse comes a 'callin.

| Syracuse also 4-0 in ACC play |
It's tight at the top with three schools sitting at 3-1 in ACC standings. The Cards host Duke (1-3 in ACC play) Friday, October 5th. That one is the first of four straight home contests at Cardinal Arena and has a special start time of 5 p.m....so as to not interfere too much with Cardinal Football that night at 7 p.m. and provide Cardinal fans the possibility of attending both events.
We're pretty lucky to have a trio of great Volleyball followers and knowledgeable analysts here at Cardinal Couple in Worldwide Jeff, Jared Anderson and Case Hoskins. I appreciate all the coverage they provide for Cardinal Couple.
