La violenza di genere(domestica e non) è un forte problema che affligge la società.
Da diverso tempo esistono molte campagne di sensibilizzazione e informazione sul tema e, in linea di massima, c'è da dire che negli ultimi tempi c'è maggiore consapevolezza e conoscenza su queste tematiche.
C'è da dire che notoriamente la violenza domestica interessa molte donne ma anche diversi uomini(sia etero che gay), anche se è raro che se ne parli a causa di pregiudizi e stereotipi fortemente radicati all'interno della società.
Comunque bisogna anche aggiungere che si sta assistendo su un cambiamento anche su quest'ultima tematica, almeno nel mondo anglosassone.
Su ciò, c'è da segnalare che recentemente la 'BBC Radio 5 Live' ha intervistato il portavoce della charity 'ManKind Iniative' Mark Brooks(1).
In tale intervista, Brooks ha sostenuto che non esiste abbastanza supporto per gli uomini vittime di violenza domestica e che solo l'0.8% dei posti letto per le vittime è destinato a loro.
