The writer of a new letter concerning Kavanaugh's supreme court nomination is reportedly represented by a prominent "Me Too" lawyer.

New reports of potentially damaging claims against Judge Brett Kavanaugh, President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee, have emerged as Republicans are rushing to push his nomination through the Senate.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) announced Thursday that would be referring a letter she received from a constituent about Kavanaugh to federal investigators, but she would not discuss the specifics of the claims. According to the New York Times, however:

Two officials familiar with the matter say the incident involved possible sexual misconduct between Judge Kavanaugh and a woman when they were both in high school.

Wednesday night, The Intercept has published a similar report. It said:

Different sources provided different accounts of the contents of the letter, and some of the sources said they themselves had heard different versions, but the one consistent theme was that it describes an incident involving Kavanaugh and a woman while they were in high school.  Kept hidden, the letter is beginning to take on a life of its own.

The content and veracity of the allegations remain unclear, and the relatively thin sourcing on the matter leaves many unanswered questions. However, lawmakers will certainly consider the issue a troubling development as Kavanaugh appears to be on the fast track to a lifetime appointment to one of the most powerful seats in government.

The Intercept also reports that Debra Katz, a lawyer famous for representing "Me Too" clients, is working for the letter writer.
