Miss Italia 2018 non è stata che la consacrazione definitiva per la 26enne marchigiana Carlotta Maggiorana, che oltre a una discreta carriera come showgirl in televisione (da Paperissima ad Avanti un altro e Ciao Darwin), è anche attrice. Il suo breve ma interessante curriculum vanta una presenza in un film di
Leonardo Pieraccioni, ne I soliti idioti e addirittura un piccolo ruolo nel capolavoro di Terrence Malick The Tree of Life, al fianco di Brad Pitt e Sean Penn. Un'esperienza che ha descritto così, nel presentarsi al pubblico a Miss Italia:
Brad Pitt è bellissimo, ma Sean Penn è molto più affascinante!
Il ruolo in The Tree of Life
Come gli spettatori più attenti forse ricordano, lo splendido film di Malick, Palma d'Oro a Cannes nel 2011, ha alcune sequenze girate in Italia in location particolarmente suggestive, come il volo degli uccelli all'Eur di Roma o la scena al Parco dei Mostri di Bomarzo. Proprio la troupe italiana del film fece scoprire a Malick Carlotta Maggiorana, all'epoca ballerina non ancora maggiorenne. Carlotta ha mosso i primi passi anche nel mondo della fiction. In particolare, ha recitato L'onore e il rispetto- Ultimo capitolo, serie (s)cult con Gabriel Garko nel ruolo di Sofia Musacca in Lo Pizzo. Ulteriore curiosità sulla Maggiorana: per la prima volta nella storia di Miss Italia, ha trionfato una concorrente già sposata. Carlotta è infatti moglie del costruttore pescarese Emiliano Pierantoni dal 2017.
