Svolta sul caso Aquarius. La nave attraccherà a Malta. Dopo il braccio di ferro tra l'equipaggio della nave e il governo francese che ha detto "no" allo sbarco, adesso i migranti a bordo dell'imbarcazione sbarcheranno a La Valletta e verranno ricollocati in parte in Portogallo.
Lisbona ha infatti annunciato di aver trovato un accordo con Parigi e Madrid per accogliere 10 dei 58 migranti che si trovano a bordo. Sono state ore complicate per la Aquarius che si è trovata senza bandiera dopo l'iter avviato da Panama e al centro del Mediterraneo senza un porto di attracco. Di fatto in mattinata la tensione è salita dopo l'ennesimo rifiuto da parte di Parigi ad aprire i porti mentre la Aquarius era in rotta su Marsiglia.
Diversi esponenti del governo francese hanno anche puntato il dito contro l'Italia e contro Malta accusandole di "non rispettare le regole" con la chiusura dei porti. Adesso a quanto pare sarebbe stata trovata un'intesa. Bisognerà capire se la Aquarius tornerà nuovamente davanti alle coste libiche dopo lo sbarco dei migranti salvati recentemente. Dopo Gibilterra anche Panama ha di fatto annunciato di voler cancellare la nave dai propri registri navali. Aquarius ha chiesto all'Europa una nuova bandiera ma dall'Ue è arrivata una risposta secca: "Non è un fattore di nostra competenza". La presenza della nave nel Mediterraneo è comunque un incnetivo per le partenze dei barconi dalle coste della Libia sotto la regia degli scafisti. Senza ong in mare il flusso potrebbe ridursi ulteriormente.
