A Ukrainian Court Gave a Resident of Melitopol 3 Years of Prison for Supporting Donbass on “VKontakte”

The court handed down a 3-year conditional jail sentence to the female resident of Melitopol in the Zaporizhia region Tatiyana Dyunina for sharing a “separatist” post on the social network “VKontakte”.
According to the court verdict, Dyunina, a native of the Voronezh region of Russia, on March 27th, 2014 on the “VKontakte” social network under the username “Tatiyana Tyunikova” shared a post of the user “Viktor Kondratovich” entitled “The Southeast – follow me to Russia”.
According to the conclusion of the judicial-linguistic (semantic-textual) examination, in the written language in the text of the post shared from the page of someone named “Viktor Kondratovich” there is talk about certain territorial changes, namely about motivating the inhabitants of a Southeastern part of Ukraine to carry out actions that will lead to the accession of this territory to Russia.
Moreover, the next day, on March 28th, 2014 Dyunina shared the post of the “News of Donbass” group with the following information: “Do you want this? Yes, this is what the residents of novorossiya and malorossiya want in Ukraine. We are Russians of Ukraine-Rus – a part of the united Russian world. The brainwashed betrayers of their own Russianness are not order-givers for us”.
According to the judgment, this text also contains statements expressed in the form of inducements with an appeal to think about territorial changes, namely the formation of the country of “Malorossiya” on the territory of Ukraine.
The defendant interrogated at the court hearing admitted their guilt in full and repented.
The court condemned her according to part of 1 Article 110 (distribution of materials with calls to commit deliberate actions for the purpose of changing the borders of the territory of Ukraine in defiance of the order established by the Constitution of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code.
The female resident of Melitopol was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment, but exempted from punishment with a probation period of 1 year.
