Kapal tanker baru ketiga untuk TNI AL dibuat oleh galangan PT Batamec Shipyard di Batam (photo : defence.pk)

Dalam rangka mewujudkan proyeksi kekuatan sesuai Minimum Essential Force maka TNI AL telah memesan tiga kapal tanker baru di 3 galangan kapal yang berbeda di tanah air. 

Order kapal tanker pertama dikerjakan oleh galangan PT Dok Kodja Bahari di Jakarta, kapal tanker dengan nomor lambung 905 KRI Tarakan sudah diserahkan. Kapal tanker ke-2 dikerjakan oleh galangan PT. Anugerah Buana Marine di Serang, Banten, kapal dalam proses reskedul untuk penyelesaian. Kapal tanker ke-3 dikerjakan oleh PT. Batamec Shipyard di Batam dengan nomor lambung 907.

Kapal tanker yang didesain oleh Terafulk ini mempunyai spesifikasi yang sama yaitu panjang 123,5m, lebar 16,5m dan berat 2.400ton ini memiliki kapasitas muat minyak 5.500 meter kubik, namun Terafulk terus menyempurnakan desain setelah kapal tanker pertama masuk operasional.



Kapal ini resminya berfungsi sebagai kapal bantu cair minyak (BCM) atau kapal tanker, namun kapal ini mampu juga mengangkut logistik basah maupun kering untuk kebutuhan militer. Kapal tanker ini juga akan dilengkapi peralatan Replenishment at Sea (RAS) yang memungkinkan kapal untuk mentransfer bahan bakar ke kapal lain saat kapal sedang berlayar.

Kapal tanker buatan PT. Batamec Shipyard yang mempunyai nomor lambung 907 ini tampak konstruksi fisiknya telah selesai dan kapal siap untuk diluncurkan, di galangan basah pekerjaan interior kapal dan pemasangan peralatan akan diselesaikan, dan kemudian kapal dapat dilakukan sea trial. Menurut kontrak kapal ini harus diserahterimakan pada akhir tahun 2018.
