confermato 30 anni di carcere per
Manuel Foffo, per l’omicidio di
Luca Varani, il giovane romano massacrato a marzo del 2016. I giudici confermano
la sentenza emanata dal gup Nicola Di Grazia nel febbraio 2017, riconoscendo l’aggravante della crudeltà all’accusa di
omicidio volontario, ma non la premeditazione. La prima sentenza era stata pronunciata dopo il rito abbreviato, grazie al quale Foffo ottenne la riduzione di un terzo della pena (con il rito ordinario avrebbe rischiato l’ergastolo). Della morte di Varani era accusato anche
Marco Prato,
morto suicida in carcere il giorno prima dell’inizio del processo ordinario, nella primavera del 2017.
I giudici d’appello hanno voluto fare piena luce su questo episodio, disponendo una perizia d’ufficio per verificare se Manuel Foffo fosse capace di intendere e di volere al momento del massacro. I risultati medici sono stati chiari nel definire la luciditàdell’accusato. Il caso di omicidio scosse l’opinione pubblica sopratutto per la crudeltà con cui si svolsero i fatti: ore di sevizieche si conclusero con la morte per dissanguamento di Varani. Prato aveva poi raccontato che quella stessa notte aveva tentato il suicidio con un mix di alcool e medicine nella stanza di un albergo a piazza Bologna, dove si era fatto accompagnare dall’amico. Foffo, invece, dopo aver passato la notte nell’appartamento in cui commise l’omicidio, dormendo a pochi metri dal cadavere, confessò al padre l’omicidio e si costituì alle autorità la mattina seguente.
“Foffo non si è mai pentito della sua azione, non ha chiesto perdono. Luca è stato umiliato senza un briciolo di compassione. In questa vicenda perdono tutti, vince solo il male” hanno dichiarato i legali della famiglia della vittima.
