Sunny Hostin said her Fourth of July partt was interrupted by a group of kids yelling the n-word at them.
In an emotional segment on “The View” Monday, Sunny Hostin revealed her Fourth of July holiday party was interrupted by a group of kids who shouted the n-word at them—and Whoopi Goldberg was not having it.
Hostin explained that her family rents a house in a predominantly African American community, and was there celebrating the Fourth of July when “some kids, about 20 of them, started yelling the n-word at us.” She said they also made remarks along the lines of “this is America, we are patriots, this is our holiday.”
Hostin explained she filed a police report, adding the police were incredibly gracious about the incident, but said it was harrowing to experience that abuse in a place that’s “supposed to be a safe haven.”
“They targeted us,” Hostin said, later describing the harassers as “kind of violent.”
“They broke my paddle board,” she said.
Goldberg related Hostin’s experience to the bogus claim that racism ended when Barack Obama was elected president, telling the panel “racism doesn’t work that way.”
“You’re not talking about old people who grew up in a different time in the deep south,” Meghan McCain noted.
“Here’s what we’ll tell you,” Golberg said, turning to the audience. “We are Americans, we are all here together. You can yell the n-word as much as you want, but it’s not going to change the fact that we’re here, white people are here, yellow people are here. This is our country, my friends. And you can yell as much as you want, and if you don’t do you’re homework, you kind of look a little stupid.”
