According to the indictment of 12 Russian intelligence officers released by the office of special counsel Robert Mueller on Friday, a U.S. congressional candidate solicited stolen documents from "Gucifer 2.0," an account run by Russian intelligence forces.
"On or about Aug 15, 2016, the Conspirators, posing as Guccifer 2.0, received a request for stolen docs from a candidate for U.S. Congress," the indictment reads. "The Conspirators responded using the Guccifer 2.0 persona and sent the candidate stolen docs related to the candidate's opponent."
The candidate has not yet been publicly identified.
