It may be the first time Trump has publicly mentioned the movement.
In a bizarre and troubling moment of President Donald Trump's speech at a campaign rally in Montana on Thursday, he took a swipe at Sen. Elizabeth Warren's (D-MA) heritage and mocked the Me Too Movement.
He made light of Warren's previous claims that she has some Native American heritage, a frequent subject of his attacks on the Massachusetts senator. He said that he would like to conduct a DNA test during a debate with her to verify her claims.
"We will take that little kit and say — but we have to do it gently because we're in the 'Me Too' generation, so we have to be very gentle," he said.
There was a perverse irony in Trump's mocking the Me Too Movement, given the voluminous credible allegations of assault and misconduct against him.
And earlier in the day, he defended his ally Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), who has been accused of neglecting to prevent sexual abuse of his students that he knew was taking place when he was a wrestling coach at Ohio State University. Jordan has denied the allegations, which have been made on the record by three former students.
“I believe him,” Trump told reporters. “Jim Jordan is one of the most outstanding people I’ve met since I’ve been in Washington. I believe him 100 percent. No question in my mind.”
