"It's truly bizarre."

President Donald Trump is digging his heels in and insisting that everything is fine with North Korea, even as multiple reports reveal that U.S. intelligence agencies and other sources believe that Kim Jong-un's regime has continued to ramp up production of nuclear fuel despite the bilateral summit in Singapore.

"Many good conversations with North Korea-it is going well!" Trump tweeted on Tuesday. "In the meantime, no Rocket Launches or Nuclear Testing in 8 months. All of Asia is thrilled. Only the Opposition Party, which includes the Fake News, is complaining. If not for me, we would now be at War with North Korea!"

CNN host Fareed Zakaria was amazed at Trump's brazen disregard for U.S. intelligence and his poor grip on the basics of diplomacy.

"The president is essentially taking North Korea's side," he said Tuesday night. "It's truly bizarre. I cannot recall a circumstance where the president of the United States has essentially sided with the adversary rather than his own intelligence agency."

"He seems to think that talking means it's going well, even if there are no actual results to show for it," said anchor John Berman.

"It's strange because it's almost Diplomacy 101: Countries will always tell you what you want to hear," Zakaria said. "That's why Ronald Reagan's famous line with the Soviet Union was 'Trust, but verify.'"

He added: "It seems that Donald Trump's attitude with Kim Jong Un is trust, trust, trust, trust and never verify."
