Sta facendo discutere un caso avvenuto nella New York University.
Come riporta il 'Corriere Della Sera', la docente 66enne Avital Ronell è accusata di aver molestato un ragazzo sulla trentina(1).
Più specificatamente, nel settembre del 2017 lo stesso ragazzo ( frequentante i corsi più avanzati, il PhD), ha segnalato al Dipartimento di sorveglianza dell’ateneo di essere stato presumibilmente molestato(il condizionale è d'obbligo non essendo chiarito il caso) dalla stessa Ronell e qualche settimana fa un gruppo di colleghi e colleghe della stessa docente di germanistica ha scritto una lettera indirizzata al presidente dell'università Andrew Hamilton, in cui ci si appella ai «meriti» e «alla «reputazione» della professoressa e critica letteraria di origine israeliana(2).
Tale lettera, resa nota dall'ordinario di filosofia e legge alla University of Chicago Law School Brian Leiter sul suo blog 'Leiter Reports'(3), sostiene che contro la Ronell si è creata una«caccia alle streghe».
Andando maggiormente nei particolari e stando a quanto riportato dal quotidiano israeliano Haaretz(4), c'è da dire che tra i firmatari della lettera vi sono una cinquantina di intellettuali e tra di essi alcune delle più importanti teoriche femministe contemporanee.
Tra l'altro, la stessa iniziativa è stata promossa dalla filosofa post-strutturalista e teorica del gender Judith Bluter(5), nota anche per il contributo teorico alla terza ondata del femminismo.
Ovviamente c'è da dire che le accuse alla Ronell sono tutte da verificare e indagare in modo imparziale.
