Non sorprende il consiglio che Donald Trump avrebbe dato alla premier britannica Theresa May durante l’incontro ufficiale a Londra: fare causa all’Unione Europea. Parlando con la Bbc May ha raccontato che, durante il vertice, il presidente Usa le ha detto di non continuare a negoziare per la Brexit. La premier, che ha perso ben due ministri del suo governo perché il piano elaborato è apparso ai conservatori troppo arrendevole, ha spiegato che la soluzione suggerita da Trump le è parsa troppo “brutale”. Il presidente Usa “mi ha detto che dovrei fare causa all’Ue e non entrare in un negoziato”. Trump avrebbe però anche suggerito di “non andarsene” dai colloqui, perché così facendo si sarebbe ficcata in un vicolo cieco. “Non abbandonare questi negoziati sennò poi sei bloccata. Perché io vorrei che noi ci sedessimo per negoziare l’accordo migliore per la Gran Bretagna” le parole dall’inquilino della Casa Bianca durante il loro incontro di venerdì a Chequers. Un vertice comunque burrascoso come forse mai prima nella storia dei due Paesi alleati, fin da quando Winston Churchill coniò l’espressione ‘special relationship’.

Con le critiche al sindaco laburista di Londra, Sadiq Khan, per il “pessimo lavoro fatto contro il terrorismo” (ma anche per aver autorizzato le affollate proteste di piazza contro di lui e il lancio da parte dei contestatori dell’irridente pupazzo d’un bizzoso baby-Donald).
