In a police interview played to jurors earlier in the trial, Ms Williams claimed she returned home a few days after Mr Gerbic had attacked her with a knife, to find his torso in their ensuite
The court heard Ms Williams was shocked to make the discovery and told detectives she thought a friend may have dismembered the body.
In his closing address on Wednesday, defence barrister Simon Lewis told jurors his client was responsible for cutting up the body but said she was trying to cover-up "something terrible" and it did not prove she committed murder.

When the trial started in Brisbane last week, Lindy Williams pleaded not guilty to murdering George Gerbic, but admitted to dumping his headless torso on the side of Cedar Pocket Road near Gympie and setting it alight.

'Did she dismember his body? Yep', lawyer says

"Did Lindy Williams cause the death of George Gerbic? Yep," Mr Lewis said.
"Did she lie about it? Yep. Did she dismember his body as best she could with a saw bought from Bunnings some 10 days after? Yep."
Mr Lewis told the court Ms Williams version to police that she came back and found the body cut up in her ensuite was "rubbish".
"That was never, ever, ever, going to be believed," he said.
"She's locked into this pantomime of keeping George alive, not to cover up a murder but that she had been involved in something terrible.
"Whatever happened was terrible and was a tragedy."
Mr Lewis said when Ms Williams disposed of the torso she was dealing with something that was "certainly not intended".
She told officers he slipped on her blood and hit his head on the kitchen bench during an argument and he was still lying on the floor when she fled the next morning.
"There is no plan to get rid of his body, obviously, because the saw is not bought until (September 16)," he said.
The defence told the court at the time of the argument, she was acting in self defence against a man with a history of domestic violence.
"Her involvement in the dismembering of the body, her disposal of the body, her use of the deceased's telephone and email accounts after that, that fact that the crown says she cut her own arm some time after his death.
"He was, as you heard, a big man, imposing man, impatient man, he was a violent man," Mr Lewis said.
"The chain of reasoning the crown asks you to look at are her actions," he said.
Prosecutor Todd Fuller QC said Ms Williams acted with "cold, manipulative, deception" and suggested she dismembered the body to hide the cause of his death.
