"I begged them not to cancel the show. I told them I was willing to do anything..."

Even after pledging to leave Twitter — and then quickly breaking that promise — Roseanne Barr returned to the medium Thursday night to reveal that she "begged like 40 motherf-----s" to keep her show on the air that ABC canceled earlier this week.

The network pulled the plug on her highly rated sitcom after she tweeted a racist attack on former adviser to President Barack Obama's former aide Valerie Jarrett. Within hours of the tweet drawing a backlash, ABC announced that the show, which had been revived after having ended back in the '90s, would be canceled.

"I begged Ben Sherwood at ABC 2 let me apologize & make amends. I begged them not to cancel the show. I told them I was willing to do anything & asked 4 help in making things right. I'd worked doing publicity4 them 4free for weeks, traveling, thru bronchitis. I begged4 ppls jobs," she wrote. "He said: what were you thinking when you did this? I said: I thought she was white, she looks like my family! He scoffed & said: "what u have done is egregious, and unforgivable.' I begged 4 my crews jobs. Will I ever recover from this pain? omg."

She continued: "Attempting to also get phone numbers for Jarrett, Michelle and GS to personally apologize to them tho I disagree with their politics. I was still wrong 2 dehumanize them-they r not my enemy, harboring hate & anger is my enemy. I can speak respectfully 2 those w whom I disagree."

In another, since-deleted tweeted documented by Fox News, she wrote: "I also told Ben Sherman that I would go in hospital to check my meds, bc the stress had made them less effective. I begged like 40 motherf-----s."

Despite Barr's effort to make the whole issue revolve around a single tweet, her Twitter persona has been vitriolic, conspiratorial, and racist for years. She previously made a similar attack on another Obama staff, Susan Rice. And shortly after going after Jarrett, she lobbed false allegations at George Soros of having been a Nazi collaborator.
