Sanders did her best to frame the president's words as something other than an ignorant outburst.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was left mumbling an explanation for President Donald Trump's tweet that undocumented immigrants should not have due process.
"We cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country. When somebody comes in, we must immediately, with no Judges or Court Cases, bring them back from where they came," Trump wrote over the weekend in a characteristically uninformed tweet.
Sanders did her best to frame the president's words as something other than an outburst with no actionable plan to implement the illegal policy.
"What is this administration planning to do to make it so you don't have to see a judge?" Ayesha Roscoe of NPR asked before Sanders cut in with a meaningless word salad.
"The president's ultimate goal is to secure the border and stop illegal immigration," Sanders concluded after the brief rant about ports of entry and expedited removal situations.
Roscoe wasn't impressed.
"The administration is not changing anything right now when it comes to judges?" Roscoe responded. "The president is complaining about judges and saying that we shouldn't have all of the judges and people come over should just be put out but nothing is actually going to change. He's just saying -- he's just complaining about the process as it stands now?"
"Um, things that, uh, we have the ability to do administratively we're working to do," Sanders concluded nervously.
