So I have a system which I purchased dirt cheap second hand from work. I had no problems with it whatsoever in the first month or so. Being the genius that I am I purchased a cheap Ebay led strip to hook up to my power supply.
Fast forward two days - the PC doesn't switch on, gets stuck in a second-and-a-half or so boot-loop, switching on - dying, switching on - dying. I powered it off and let it be since I wasn't sure if the problem was with the power supply or the motherboard (in which case I was not ready to buy another one as it's considered to be an old system now). I tried switching it on everyday for like a week to no avail, and let it be.
Fast forward one/two months later, today I causally tried switching it on. Despite all odds it did and booted up flawlessly...I tried restarting it a couple of times, with the third getting stuck back into bootloop. Switched it off, left it a couple of hours, and switched it on again...now it's booted and working flawlessly.
I'm astonished as I thought it was done for, very glad to have it working again but worried about: 1. what caused the issue (LED strips are my bet), 2. if the problem was the power supply OR the motherboard, 3. If as I suspect is the power supply, does it need changing or was that something temporary?
P.S the LED strip will never touch this PC again.
System specs:
Power Supply: Corsair CX750 Motherboard: PBZ77-M Pro Processor: Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @3.40GHz Ram: 8GB No external Graphics Card Windows 10 OS - 64bit
EDIT< spelling.
