I am currently facing a dire situation I have never encountered before.
I have a asus X550VC laptop. It had 8.1 windows preinstalled and the owner (a friend of mine) asked me to install Win 7 on it (I have the USB setup). I have booted it from USB, formatted C: and... got this error
"windows cannot be installed to this disk. the selected disk is of the gpt partition style"
While googling for solutions I have found out that I should either format whole drive to different partition style (what would result in data loss on particle D what I have to avoid) or change the Bios to Legacy mode and install Windows that way.
The thing is that in my Bios I have no option to switch to legacy mode. There is no selectable option for legacy bios at all.
secure Boot Control is disabled. In boot I have Launch CSM (Enabled) and Launch PXE 0pROM (enabled). I have enabled both of those to allow set up from pendrive. Googling that did not help me too much unfortunately.
So now I have a deadlock. I have data I cannot lose on particle D and I cannot setup a system on particle C:. Automatic laptop repair fails.
I would be very thankful for any assistance.
