It's a Windows 10 box with Intel RST, I have 1 boot SSD and a raid1 data drive made of two 1 TB hard drives. After the last weekend's window update, I noticed on Monday that my raid1 became two separate drives and they are no longer in sync. Everything else worked just fine.
But I had to try and get it back into a raid. Hilarity ensued.
Steps taken so far:
Boot into BIOS, try to set up ez-raid, it says I don't have enough drives when I try. After I get back into Windows, the raid drives are GONE. There's a new E: drive that I don't have permissions to access, however.
Run chkdsk on the new E: drive. It thinks about it for a few hours, then spits out a bunch of files it puts into system folders found.000 and found.001.
Go into Security > Advanced > Ownership and recursively set all the folders and files in the drive to be owned by Users, instead of nobody. This process fails spectacularly, because it can't find many of the files in found.000 and found.001
Admin shell, go into found.000 and do a del ., again it fails to find some files and therefore I don't have permissions to remove them.
Some of the folders got their permissions applied correctly (lots of spam-clicking continue to get through the bad ones), so now I can see and access the drive in explorer.
Windows Disk Management allowed me to remap the drive from E: to I: where it was originally.
However, now any programs on the I: drive, including uninstall.exe for them, fail to start in windows with a rather snooty message about 'My computer' not being able to run them.
My current plans are to back up whatever is not corrupted at this point on an external drive and nuke both drives from orbit, reformat and break up the array for good.
I solemnly await better ideas, because reddit knows best. Right, gals and guys?
