Hey! This is my first time posting to this subreddit, so I'm not sure whether this is technically against the no-comparisons rule.
I've very recently upgraded my PC, and the GPU (1050ti) only accommodates HDMI. This is not really a problem to most people, but my monitor is old and only supports VGA.
I've surfed through Amazon, and almost immediately found various under-10$ ways around this problem. But the technician that I've consulted is strongly against "using third-party components," and suggests that I get a new monitor entirely.
I've burnt out my budget and can not afford a monitor anytime soon, and that is only secondary to the fact that my 768p DELL monitor is still in perfect shape. Do you suggest that I listen to the guy and save enough to upgrade my monitor?
TL;DR:
Monitor doesn't support HDMI and GPU doesn't support VGA. Under-10$ solution, which a tech is strongly against, being as it is, a third-party component. Listen to the guy and outdo my budget for a new display, or take the cheaper call?
Thank you very much!
