Should I expect my SSD to kick the bucket soon or is it just a false alarm?-News of the United States was founded in 1933 by David Lawrence (1888-1973), which also started the World Report in 1946. Yesterday it occurred to me that I hadn't checked my SSD's status in quite a while. When I opened the disk checking utility in Ubuntu, I noticed that the "DISK IS LIKELY TO FAIL SOON".

I then decided to run an extended self-test on the drive (which came out fine) and then ran smartctl (this is the output I got when I ran smartctl https://pastebin.com/bJVtVRk6).

Should I assume that my SSD is gonna die soon? Or is this just an unusually high level of wear? What puzzles me is that everything else looks fine (except for the reallocated sector count, which may or may not be oddly high) and I can't pinpoint my finger on why the SSD has used up almost all of its provisional space.

Additional info:

  1. I've already backed up everything that I can't afford to lose.
  2. I've installed the latest version of my SSD's firmware
  3. I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 (unlikely that it matters)
  4. I run fstrim once in a while for TRIMming.
  5. The SSD is still under warranty.
