I recently purchased a WD Elements 2TB portable hard drive for use with my PS4. It worked great until I traveled with it in my carry on luggage and lost the original cable that came with the device. Now I cannot get the device to turn on or appear on multiple consoles and laptops. This is all with a replacement cable. WD wants me to send it in for a warranty replacement, but my question is could the cable be the source of this issue?
TL;DR Lost the cable that came with my portable hard drive and cannot get the device to turn on with a new cable. Can the new cable be the problem?
