"Where was the apology for Kathy Griffin going on a profane rant against the president on ‘The View’ after a photo showed her holding President Trump’s decapitated head?" Sanders demanded.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders unloaded on Wednesday after a reporter asked her about Donald Trump’s tweet attacking Bob Iger for condemning Roseanne Barr’s racist comments—but not apologizing for the “HORRIBLE” statements ABC personalities make about him.
Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that “ABC does not tolerate comments like those” made by Roseanne Barr. Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the HORRIBLE statements made and said about me on ABC. Maybe I just didn’t get the call?
Sanders insisted Trump was “simply calling out the media bias” when he posted that tweet Wednesday.
“No one is defending what she said,” Sanders said, arguing “the president is the president of all Americans and he's focused on doing what is best for our country.”
“Today the president signed legislation to give patients the right to try medication that could actually save their lives, and I’d point out that while the president signed that legislation and actually addressed America, two networks chose not to cover it and instead covered something totally different,” she added.
“He's simply pointing out the bias,” Sanders continued. “The president is pointing out the hypocrisy and the media, saying the most horrible things about this president and nobody addresses it. Where was Bob Iger's apology to the White House staff for Jemele Hill calling the president and anyone associated with him a white supremacist? To Christians around the world for Joy Behar calling Christianity a ‘mental illness?’ Where was the apology for Kathy Griffin going on a profane rant against the president on ‘The View’ after a photo showed her holding President Trump’s decapitated head. And where was the apology from Bob Iger for ESPN hiring Keith Olbermann after his numerous expletive-laced tweets attack the president as a Nazi?”
