Special counsel Robert Mueller asked a London-based American academic and self-described “Donald Trump defender” about his connection to Roger Stone, ABC News reports.
Malloch was detained by federal investigators at Boston’s Logan Airport in March. He told ABC News Mueller’s team spent an hour asking about Stone.
Malloch, a contributor to InfoWars and close ally of UK Independence Part founder Nigel Farage, is the author to a new book, “The Plot to Destroy Trump: How the Deep State Fabricated the Russian Dossier to Subvert the President.” In it, Malloch alleges the U.S. intelligence community is trying to undermine Trump’s presidency.
At the forefront of the Mueller team’s line of questioning regarding Stone is whether the longtime Trump adviser had advanced knowledge that WikiLeaks obtained emails from Hillary Clinton allies and was planning on using them to tip the election toward Trump.
Six weeks before WikiLeaks released hacked emails from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, Stone tweeted, “Trust me, it will soon [be]the Podesta's time in the barrel. #CrookedHillary.”
Days before the release, he added, “I have total confidence that @wikileaks and my hero Julian Assange will educate the American people soon #LockHerUp.”
In a statement, Stone downplayed his connection to Malloch and once again claimed he had no advanced knowledge of the WikiLeaks email hack.
“I know and like Professor Malloch,” Stone wrote. “I met him during the 2016 campaign and think we were together on perhaps three occasions… There has been some inference in the media that Ted was somehow a go-between between me, Wikileaks and Julian Assange. This is false.”
“I reiterate that I had no advance knowledge of the source content or exact timetable for release the WikiLeaks disclosures regarding Hillary Clinton and the DNC,” he added. “I never received anything from WikiLeaks or Julian Assange or anyone else Including allegedly hacked emails and never passed in anything on to Donald Trump or the Trump campaign. There is so simply no evidence to the contrary.”
