Hi all,

I submitted a post yesterday about issues with my PC freezing intermittently that I've been slowly trying to work through/narrow down.

I ran a couple of memtest passes to try to rule that out, and I didn't come up with any errors, but I noticed my CPU (i7 7700k) was running about 85 just during the memtest. I know it can spike in temperature, and I didn't have a lot of time to do more testing, but the problem at least recently has only been occurring under load (gaming by itself, or gaming while streaming video). I did play a single Overwatch game mainly just to see, and the temps weren't all that high, but I'm still leaning more towards it being a heat issue. It did spike to 98 with 100% CPU load at some point during that that game, but it didn't seem to be persisting.

It's my understanding that the i7 7700k is a hot chip, but that its max temp is 100. Does it hard crash if it gets that hot? Is there a...reliable but also safe way to test if the temp is indeed the problem? And what temps should I be hoping for?
