I have a Lenovo Y700, and I think from excessive smashing of the D key I have worn down the scissor mechanism underneath the key somehow.
So I have examined it as closely as I can and it seems to only pop off when I press the front end of the key, as though the back is the only part that is popping off and then that allows the rest of the key to come off.
The key cover itself has a minor defect which is that one of the pieces that clamps onto the front of the scissor mechanism is broken, but that isn't affecting anything.
I suspect that either the scissor mechanism is broken on the side closer to me, or the metal hooks on that side are somehow broken, but neither is visibly the case.
I have taken the key cover and scissor mechanism apart a few times and put it back on piece by piece, with the same result that it just pops off as soon as I press on the front end of the key.
Also I should note that when I say front end, I mean the side closer to the screen than to myself, I'm not sure if that was clear.
I'd appreciate any help, and could try to post pictures but it is a pretty small scale to try to observe through photos. Thanks in advance for any help :)
