I've been trying for a few hours to get WoL to work on my Windows 10 machine.

I think it may be an underlying issue with either drivers or settings, as I'm getting some really weird behavior. Whenever I (manually) wake up my PC from sleep, the network adapter shows the no cable plugged in icon for 10-30 seconds, then cycles back on and I get my internet back. I'm strictly using a wired connection, no WiFi at all.

Things I have tried or done are:

  • Port forwarding in my router is all set up, and when checking with Simple Port Tester everything seems to be working fine.
  • Wake on lan monitor shows the magic packets being received by my computer while it's not sleeping.
  • I've uninstalled/rolled back/installed the newest Intel I217-V drivers (that's my ethernet adapter).
  • I have enabled wake-on-lan in my BIOS and in the network adapter properties in device manager.
  • I have disabled "Green Ethernet".
  • I have tried changing the Link Speed.
  • I have tried with the "Allow this device to be turned off to save power" setting both on and off (currently, that setting is no longer available as I'm on the latest 23.1 Intel drivers)

I may have tried other things as well, it's all a jumble at this point as frustration has driven me near mad.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, as I'm fresh out of ideas.

EDIT: Other things I didn't mention

  • I've disabled Fast Boot, to no avail.
  • My BIOS is up to date, and wake-on-lan is enabled.
