Hello!
I’m president for a small nonprofit that we would like to see grow over the next couple of years. We have group members and do monthly events during our board year. Group members must apply, fill out an application and pay dues which are currently set at $50 a year. Our socials are monthly. We currently do an RSVP and a separate pay option for food (currently $8). Food is not attached automatically to the RSVP (you can come and chose not to order the food option). We also have an annual fundraiser where guests who want to attend must apply for a table by filling out a form, and paying $80.
We currently do these things in different ways. Membership forms are fillable on our website through GoDaddy, and we have a paypal button to pay for the $50 membership fee on a separate page. Our annual fundraiser was handled the same way (a fillable form & $80 pay pal button). For socials, we do Evite.com evites (which we put the link for on our website) and a paypal button to pay for $8 food.
The problem we have run into is that people will fill out the form but then not immediately go to paypal and pay the money, or will pay and then not fill out the form. Also, if a person’s banking information/name is not the same as their “go by” name, we have no way to know this and will go hunting for two different people; or similarly, during our fundraiser, one person may pay for the table but the table is registered under a different name.
Is there anyway for us to do this (create a fillable form with required and/or optional paypal components) through GoDaddy basic website editor & Paypal already or should we look at other third party options? Paypal currently charges us a fee, which we are fine with. I know there’s SignUp Genius, which we’ve used for other events, that uses WePay instead of PayPal. Does anyone have any experience using this? I’m not sure what the fee for PayPal is off the top of my head but I feel like the 5%+50¢ per transaction fee is similar to what we currently spend in paypal fees. If third party, I would prefer to use the same platform for both types of forms (full, complex fillable forms & RSVP type, easy responses).
Also, I have very limited knowledge of HTML and PayPal. We’re all volunteers, and while we can afford to eat fees per transaction, we cannot afford to pay someone to design our website for us haha. I’m open to suggestions, or even suggestions on better places on reddit to post this question as well.
