Hello community,

I'm unable to install the 1703 build of Windows 10 since its launch last year. At that time, I had cleaned Windows Update cache and nothing. Tried several methods then. Months later, I still wasn't able to install the build. Used Media Creation Tool, Windows Troubleshooter Tool. Tried Media Creation Tool in Safe Mode, nothing.

Generally, what happens is the installer crashes. Sometimes, it is the english assistant running, sometimes it is in portuguese (I read, in some rare cases, it might help changing the system language to En-US; that's the only solution I haven't tried yet). This is what has been happening the past months. When the update launched, it was Windows Update crashing (not the assistant).

I'm running an older system, 4 GBs of RAM, x64 system, ASUS P7P55D Pro Motherboard (please let me know what else should I inform). The assistant (which btw I have downloaded several versions of) says I have everything hardware-wise necessary to install the build, including HD space (over 40GBs). Only antivirus I'm running is Windows Defender. I periodically scan Malwarebytes, Roguekiller and Adware, so far I can't find a malware that may be causing the trouble.

Also, I was running a dual boot with Linux and cannot remember if I started the dual boot before or after the update was launched. Later on, I deleted the Linux partition and restored Windows Loader via Advanced Options.

At this point I have no idea what should I try. Searched the web multiple times, including the guides provided by MS. I have no idea when did I get things wrong, really. Now I risk being without vital security updates.

PS: a backup + fresh install is the last option I'm considering, since it is harder the time being for me to grab an HDD large enough (at least for now). I want to find some solution that does not involve a fresh install.

Thanks for any help I can get.
