The background of the problem I think is that I switched the usb between a osx system and a windows 10 system. I first used it on a windows 10 system then continued working on the files on a plane flight. Came back from the trip plugged it into my windows 10 computer. the files were visible for a short time and then boom nothing.
What I tried mysel is on windows reinstalling driver software which didnt help. on linux i tried photorec to recover data however i cannot point it in the right direction because the filesystem/partition/whatever does not get recognized.
Is there a way to recognize the usb stick and can somebody tell me if the data is recoverable? and if so how should I proceed? should I troubleshoot on my windows box or my linux box?
