Apparently this is a common problem that a lot of people face, however a lot of the solutions I've found just don't seem to work

So I have 2x4GB RAM sticks. Windows 10 reserves half my memory, no matter what I do. My BIOS detects both memory sticks fine, even Windows does. I've wiped the PC, re-installed Windows, updated my BIOS. It reserves half the memory no matter what. I've put in RAM from a different PC, still same thing happens. I've tried putting my sticks in slots 1 & 2 to see if it works in a single-channel format. This actually works!... but I would prefer to keep it dual-format, obviously.

I'm starting to think it's a hardware fault... maybe not getting the right voltage? Maybe the mobo's at fault? I'm not really sure. Does anyone have a clue?
