Just moved to a new house. At the old house, I always used an Ethernet for my computer, Xbox, etc.. Can't use an Ethernet atm as I'm only using this setup temporarily. We had a shit ton of trouble with the ISP in getting everything set up (still not sure why) but it took em a couple days and they had to do a bunch of extra stuff blah blah whatever. We have Spectrum and the speeds are really quite nice....... Unless you leave the room the router is actually in... WiFi won't even pick up at all if you step out the front door. Anyways. I'm currently set up one room away from the router, and my phone sits around 3 bars consistently, which is nice. However, once I tried to set my desktop up temporarily, it barely reaches. It shows 1 bar on & off and whenever I try to connect, it takes what feels like years and eventually says it can't connect. I got it to actually connect once and it was the slowest shit I've ever seen. It couldn't even load up YouTube's main page. My main concern atm is getting the computer to connect from this room without using an Ethernet. Eventually there will be an Ethernet ran, however, right now it isn't an option. I don't really have time to buy and install anything, I'm really just hoping I'm over looking something or there's a quick fix for me to use temporarily until things settle down. Again, phone gets really good connection in the same room, but desktop only shows 1 bar and can't connect.
Last bit of info, I have a laptop in the bedroom which is a decent distance further from where I'm trying to hook the desktop up at and it connects to WiFi with no issue, which makes me think there's something going on with the desktop. Any help is appreciated! :)
