First time I had the issue I was playing Valkyria Chronicles and after a series of small visual glitches the game crashed. The screen became grey, filled with a pattern of rectangles (similar to this one but on mine the pattern was darker and had a mosaic of individual small rectangles instead of stripes) and the music was on a really short loop. After a couple of seconds of that, the computer restarted on its own. I thought it was a one time thing, but the issue kept happening, each time happening after a shorter amount of time played. I checked if that was only something related to that particular game, but other games like Rocket League caused it too. Also after one of the crashes, when the computer restarted Discord looked a bit broken. The usual grey background had some bright green lines on it, which went away after minimizing and maximizing the window.
I began to try a few things that have worked for me in the past. I began by checking the temperature of both the GPU and the CPU and the fan speeds during the crashes, but the temperatures were average (highest recorded of the CPU was 56ºC and the highest of the GPU was 62ºC, sometimes I've had crashes at temperatures as low as 30ºC on both) and the fans were working properly. After that I reinstalled the drivers of the GPU to see if the outdated drivers were the problem, but the issue kept happening. After that I read somewhere that sometimes a capacitor of the GPU breaks and can cause issues like mine, so I opened the case and looked for anything that looked odd, but everything looks fine. Then I decided to try to see if the issue happened when using the integrated graphics. Trying that the computer never crashed but I had to stop the test because when changing the resolution this thing happened and I was unable to change it back so I could see what I was doing. Then I plugged the GPU back again and after confirming that the resolution issue didn't happen using the GPU I decided to format the computer and reinstall everything from scratch. So I did just that, I reinstalled windows 7 and all the drivers and I reinstalled Valkyria Chronicles. I was able to play 5 hours or so when the issue happened again. The temperature wasn't the cause this time either as it never even reached 50ºC. And right now I'm out of ideas. I've done everything I know and this problem is way above my knowledge on computers. I'm starting to believe that my GPU might be dying.
This might be unrelated, but I've been having another issue GPU-related that began before these crashes but has worsened after the beginning of the crashes. Sometimes while playing Overwatch the game would crash and most of the other windows I had open stopped showing me anything. That crash also came with a message from windows saying "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered". That was exclusive of multi-hour long sessions of Overwatch, which I very rarely do so I never really looked into it. That was until the crashes began. After that I had this issue on both Rocket League and watching youtube videos on Google Chrome. At first I thought the two were related so I looked into it and I managed to get rid of that problem by using solution 3 on this page. Both having the issue or solving it seemed to have no effect on the crashes.

CPU: AMD A8-6600K APU
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 270 OC 2GB (manufactured by GIGABYTE)
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-DS2
