So I have been having issues streaming vidoes on my laptop (twitch, youtube etc) over the past few weeks so I thought I would try and get to the bottom of it.
For reference I can barely watch a Twitch stream at 160p.
So I first ran an internet speed test using testmy.net.
Expected Speed: Internet is supposed to be 100mbps down and around 10mbps up. Of course I recognise that we never actually get the advertised speeds.
My speed (laptop): 202kbps
Housemates speed: 91.4 mbps
PC speed:: 93.2 mbps
All devices are using an up to date version of Windows 10.
So there is a clear issue with my speeds compared to the speed of the other devices.
I tried to make the test as fair as possible. I.e. conducting it from the same room, at similar times of day with no other devices sucking bandwidth. So I am not sure what to do really.
My laptop is a Lenovo Yoga 520 so certainly not an old device ( in fact it is newer than my housemates devices)
I did try installing a different network driver from Lenovos site but no luck.
Can anyone advise on how to begin rectifying the issue?
